Paateri - the home and studio of sculptress Eva Ryynänen

Eva Ryynänen (1915–2001) was one of the most well known Finnish sculptors after 1950s. She used mainly wood as her main material. The main subjects of her art were children, animals, nature, fairy tale characters, Finnish mythology and chores of a farm house.

Paateri is situated in Vuonisjärvi, in a beautiful place near river and forest. Paateri consists of the artist's home, studio, church and café, all designed by the sculptress and full of her works of art.

Open for self-guided visits during the ski holiday weeks (17.2.2025 - 7.3.2025) Mon - Sun from 10.00 AM to 4.00 PM . The Gallery Café is open from 10.00 AM to 5.30 PM.

For a joint ticket buyer, a ticket for the SuperPUU ( in English: Wild Wild Wood) exhibition at the Pielinen Museum 6,50 €/person (valid 15.5.-30.9.) 

This exhibition is a special exhibition, which can be experienced until 19.2 - 30.9.2025 in the Pielinen museum main building's temporary exhibition space. The exhibition includes selected items from the Wild Wild Wood set.
