The Immigration Coordinator handles communication with the authorities, matters related to early childhood education and care and schooling. The Immigration Coordinator collaborates with different authorities.
The Immigration Coordinator also advises businesses operating in Lieksa on matters related to the work permits of foreign employees and can provide assistance in applying for a work permit.

North Karelia has many services that support the integration and settling in of immigrants in the area. The aim is to create a multicultural and communal environment where everyone can find their place and actively participate in local life.
You can contact immigration services by phone or email. You can meet the Immigration Coordinator at the office by prior appointment. The service is confidential and free of charge. We provide services in Finnish and English. For other languages, we will use an interpreter where necessary.
If you have lived in Finland for a year and have received a decision on temporary protection, you can apply for a municipality of residence. You can apply for a municipality of residence from the Digital and Population Data Services Agency.
You can apply for a municipality of residence online on the basis of having lived in Finland for one year. Apply on the Digital and Population Data Services Agency website (dvv.fi/en/municipality-of-residence).
